follow site OK. Well, this recipe is a real winner you guys. I’m not a huge fan of the whole “bliss balls” craze because most of them are SOOO high in sugar, fat and have barely any protein in them. They are basically like eating a few handfuls of sugary trail mix. Meaning, they taste delicious but they don’t really give you much other than a blood sugar spike and lots of fat. I wanted to find a way to take this snack trend and make it healthier, more well rounded, easier to make (no food processor necessary!), VERY low in sugar, high in fiber and high in protein. That’s a big ask!

These bliss balls are the best ones I have ever made and they are by far the healthiest. I used the basics of my Lemon Coconut Truffle Balls recipe and added fiber while also changing the flavors. The result is a delicious, chocolatey little snack that will keep you full and satisfied between lunch and dinner for few calories.

The fiber added is All-Bran Buds, which I have in my yogurt for breakfast every morning. It is the highest fiber cereal I have found, plus it is low in sugar and actually really tasty too. I pulverized the bran buds to create a flour consistency in my blender- super simple! Then added that to a ton of protein powder (make sure you chose one you love the taste of!!) and the balls were on their way. The fat in this recipe is coconut oil- which is SUCH a healthy fat that is so good for your skin, hair and nails…as most of you already know! BUT I kept the coconut oil as low as possible so that these didn’t become all about the fat. I wanted the fat content to be there, but not take over you know?
kaletra moa This recipe takes 10-15 minutes to make…and there is no messy clean up that bliss balls usually come along with. That’s because I don’t use sticky peanut butter and messy dates! Both of which are super yummy, but don’t really add up to a healthy snack (super high in sugar and fat).

High Fiber, High Protein Chocolate Coconut Bliss Balls

3/4 cup chocolate protein powder. I used the Chocolate Tone it Up powder (SO GOOD)
1/2 cup All-Bran Buds, pulverized in the blender
1 teaspoon almond extract (vanilla works too if you don’t have almond)
2 tablespoon cacao nibs
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup coconut oil
2-3 tablespoons water (start lower and add more if needed!)
1/4 cup unsweetened, shredded coconut for rolling
Add all the ingredients to a medium bowl and mix well until it looks like a thick dough. Add more water if the dough is too dry to mold into little balls. Place coconut on a flat plate. One by one, start forming the balls by squeezing some of the dough together and rolling it in your palms. Next, roll the ball in the coconut shreds, pressing the coconut in as you go. The balls are not sticky, so you need to really press in the coconut. Continue this way until you’re dough is all gone! Store these in the fridge so that they harden up a bit. Recipe makes 14-18 balls and each one is about 50 calories.
