Chia Seeds: On Your Face

We all know how amazing chia seeds are for you when you eat them…and if you don’t, read up here!

I love using chia seeds in overnight oats, granola bars and in my smoothies to thicken them up a bit.  And I mean…. I am basically nothing without my Magic Seed Blend.  Ride or F-ing Die for this.  And Chia is one of the reasons why.

Chia seeds expand in moisture, which makes them amazing at keeping you feeling full and satisfied.  They are also a nutritional powerhouse and loaded with healthy fats and fibers.  Hello beautiful hair, skin and nails!

So what happens when these plumping seeds of nutritional goodness are used in beauty products?  Heaven happens.  Literal heaven, you guys.

I started dabbling in chia based products about a year ago, and I love the results.  There are cleansers that use chia seed oil to cleanse your skin and remove every spec of makeup- and you know I love oil cleansers!!

There are moisturizers that are super hydrating and plumping, without being too thick.  The Korean one I use is so light that I put it on seconds before my makeup and there’s never even the slightest sign of grease or shine.

The chia serums are great too- they use the chia oil to penetrate your skin and hydrate it deeply, while protecting the skin from harsh outdoor elements.

The best part of these products I have rounded up is that they are all natural, clean skincare that your skin will thank you for using.  And all but one are super afforable! Score!

Here are my favorites!

Chia Seed Hydrating Emulsion by The Face Shop:

Korean Beauty for the win!  I use this every single day.  I love it as my day moisturizer because it is super light and goes on without any greasy feel.  It plumps up my skin and makes it look and feel  SO smooth.  AND it smells divine.

Chia Seed Moisture Cream by The Face Shop:

Does this one look a little familiar?  Hint Hint look up! It’s from the same line as the moisture emulsion.  This one is a little thicker, perfect for night time so the cream can hydrate your skin while you sleep and you’ll wake up looking fresh faced and glowing.

Chia Seed Cleansing Oil by Lather:

LOVE THIS!!  This cleanser is great at removing makeup and cleansing your skin, while also staying super gentle.  The oil whisks away all the dirt and buildup in your pores and keeps your skin soft and hydrated at the same time.  To get your skin clean, you don’t need to strip it with harsh sudsy cleansers.  If you haven’t tried an oil cleanser yet- this is the one to try!

Perricone MD Chia Serum:

This serum makes your skin so velvety and smooth.  It uses the rich fatty acids from chia seeds to nourish and moisturize your skin for the perfect finish look.  Use it mixed with moisturizer or mixed with primer before applying makeup- it really amps up the dewy look and will smooth out fine lines in the process!

Chia Seed Moisture Recharge Serum by The Face Shop:

Alas, the last and final favorite chia product from my favorite Korean skin care line.  This works beautifully with the other two moisturizers.  It is light and smooths the skin very well.  I use it at night and let it sink in on clean skin before applying cream.  It’s like a little secret weapon to boost your hydration!

Chia Seed Facial Oil by Lather:

This chia seed oil is the perfect moisture boost.  It nourishes the skin and protects it from harsh outdoor elements, so it is perfect for summer and winter alike!  I love oil moisturizers- I wrote a whole post about it here!  Oil helps to balance out your skin and prevent breakouts (read the post to know more about that!!) and this one is a great addition to any skin care regiment.

Eat your chia seeds and put them on your face 😉
