Spicy Pumpkin Dip


And the pumpkin craze continues….

You already know I am obsessed.  But here’s a pumpkin recipe that you can serve at any party or just make at home and eat at any meal or just for a snack.  It’s super easy, healthy and delicious!  Spicy Pumpkin Dip.  YEP!  It is similar to a hummus dip, but has a hefty dose of pureed pumpkin, which actually makes it lighter that the typical hummus dip: fewer calories and less fat.  Who can argue with that?!


Serve it with homemade pita chips, carrots or pretzels or all three.  I also like it on some toast topped with scrambled egg whites or sliced avocado- next level avocado toast!  Or you can mix it into a salad to take your boring salad dressing up a notch.

Spicy Pumpkin Dip


1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling!)
1 cup canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
2 tablespoons tahini, sesame paste
1 large garlic clove OR 2 small
1 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
fresh black pepper to taste



In a food processor or a high powered blender, process pumpkin and chickpeas until pretty smooth, it can still be a little chunky. Add all of the remaining ingredients to food processor or blender and blend again until smooth- this should look like the consistency of hummus. Add black pepper on top, and more salt if you think it needs it!  Serve with pita, carrots, pretzels or whatever you prefer!
