Skinny Mocha-Coconut Frappuccino

I remember the first time I tasted a mocha-coconut frapp from Starbucks- it was like a taste explosion in heaven.  I used to order them when I was a teenager (when they first came out), but didn’t have them often because they are super high in calories, sugar and fat…and the inevitable guilt always set in.  But when I had one, it was one of the best things ever.  Worth-every-calorie-amazing.

I haven’t had one in YEARSSSSS… sad face…so I came up with an idea….

I thought this decadent drink would be the perfect thing to health-ify and make at home…because I need my fix and I need it now and for way fewer calories!  The original Grande sized version at Starbucks is a whopping 570 calories!  My version comes in at 230-250 calories (depending on the protein powder you use) and is loaded with 25 grams of protein.  Huge difference! It’s something that tastes just as great, but you don’t have to feel guilty about it.

I have this as my breakfast shake, as an afternoon pick me up or after a workout.

It has coffee, almond milk, coconut, banana and chocolate protein powder- it is simple and clean.  Make sure your coffee is cold when you make the shake so it gets super slushy.  I keep a jar of cold coffee in the fridge for iced coffees at home and to make this shake- it comes in super handy!

You know I love my shakes to taste like dessert, and this little guy goes above and beyond.  You can get fancy with a chocolate drizzle too if you want. Do you.

Skinny Mocha-Coconut Frappuccino

1 cup cold coffee

2/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1/2 tablespoon shaved toasted coconut

1/2 frozen banana

1 scoop chocolate protein powder

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

dash of ground cinnamon

4-5 ice cubes

Place all ingredients in the blender, and blend on low, slowly increasing the speed.  Blend until the perfect slushy consistency- think milk shake!

I top mine with a sprinkle of coconut for fun! Done!
