Heavy- Hearted Real Talk

by

It has been a hard few weeks across our nation.  It seems like one tragic event after another, and its gotten to a point where it all can’t be ignored- no matter who you are.  It makes me sad, confused and down right fucking mad.

I don’t typically like to talk religious beliefs, politics, discrimination and racism because those topics are almost always guaranteed to light a fire under someones ass…no one is allowed to have an opinion anymore without someone getting all worked up and pissy about it.  We live in a free country and we all have the right to have our opinion, no matter what that opinion is and no matter who it may or may not offend.  This is hard though, because I often run into people whose opinions are SO WRONG in my head, but still they have the right to their thoughts just as much as I do.  Ok let me stop myself, this is a whole other topic for another time.

Whats so nice about blogging is that I can freely share my opinions and talk about all different sides without “preaching” because there is nothing that turns me off more than preachy bullshit…and that’s the last thing I intend to create here.

People, as a whole, have been fighting for peace and equality for so long.

We have come so far in terms of equality and peace, but we still have so far to go.  We all have a lot of work to do.

It will be an ongoing battle that may never end, but we have to try.

Life is short…why so many people spend it filled with anger and hate is beyond me…but now more that ever I realize just how lucky I am to be safe and happy and loved.  I don’t want to take any second of that for granted because you never know what will happen tomorrow.  Life can be ended in the blink of an eye, and if you have ever lost anyone you love, you know how devastating that is.

We can blame a lot of these acts of violence on so many different things: ignorance, extremist beliefs, gun control….but really its a mixture of all of it.  I mean, do I believe that gun control is a pressing topic?  Yes absolutely- it is crazy to me how easily a gun can be purchased by almost anyone.  I can’t buy more than one pack of Sudafed in the pharmacy due to federal regulations, but I CAN buy a an assault rifle if I really wanted to.  BUT gun control isn’t the only issue…there are a lot of issues…maybe too many to “fix” anything.

All I know is that life if precious.  All life is precious.  My family and friends mean everything to me and I can not take any of them for granted. We can’t take any day for granted actually…so make sure to spread love whenever you can because in a world with so much hate, every little bit of love counts SO much.

Whatever your personal views are on any hot button topics right now, just keep an open heart…if we all opened our hearts more to other people feelings and beliefs, we will be one step closer to a more peaceful world.

XO Katrina

Beautifully said! Straight from the heart, moving and inspiring.🙏🙏🙏
I would be curious to read your thoughts on the topic you mention earlier, about people’s opinions that are simply wrong! But, I suppose that is a difficult topic that can inflame things like you said.
I pray that the innocent victims of these senseless murders did not suffer and are in a better place 🙁
I suppose there is a lot of underreported mental health issues, people who appear normal but are complete psychos and need to be locked up, there has to be a way to detect them early, and family or friends who suspect something isn’t right about a relative, should go straight to the authorities! It’s better to be safe then sorry, right?
I spent days crying and being angry and then feeling helpless and terrified about how vulnerable we are and how like you said everything could be gone in a second, then I read about that crazy dude that killed Christina, how his mum killed herself, how he lived locked in a room with no light coming in etc, and I thought this dudes family should have locked him up, clearly he had major mental health issues!
Sad days indeed, I will pray for all the victims and their families, I am sorry that the beautiful US has to suffer such terrible shocking tragedies 🙁
Peace be with us all 🙏✌️
