My Skin Savior- Weleda Skin Food

I don’t know about where you live, but NYC in the winter is cold and bitter!  The low temperatures and gusty winds (coupled with the fact that there aren’t many ways to avoid trekking outside), can really do a number on my skin.  My skin tends to be dry anyway, so during the winter, it become a whole other issue.
I have found it difficult to find products that moisturize well, protect my skin against the elements when I’m outside, and keep my skin healthy without causing a breakout.  Ever gotten a breakout from a too-rich lotion or face cream?  I certainly have.  Most people have some sort of “combination” skin, which means you may be dry or sensitive in some areas, but oily in others.

A few years ago I was introduced to a skin savior by a makeup artist while I was working on a project in NYC in January.  I was hesitant at first because it didn’t really look like a fancy face cream, and I was pretty sure the consistency would be too thick to do anything but clog my pores and make be greasy.  But WOW, it is amazing.  The dry skin around my nose and mouth soaked it up like a dream and my skin felt soft again- no more flaky patchy redness either!  AND she was able to apply makeup over it no problem…honestly, as a product junkie I was surprised I hadn’t heard of this little green gem of a lotion before!

It’s widely lived by many professional makeup artists and beauty junkies across the board- even Refinery29 shares the love!

The next day I walked myself over to Whole Foods Market, where the product is sold, and bought two tubes- one for home and one for my bag.

Welled Skin Food can be used as a face cream, hand lotion, and just about anywhere you have extra dry skin.  A little bit goes a long way…it’s very rich but when warmed up on your skin it spreads very well, and all you need is a thin layer.  It keeps my hands and cuticles looking clean and soft all winter long.

Its certified natural skin care filled with key ingredients like:

Pansy Extract which is known for its soothing and healing properties

Sunflower Seed Oil which is filled with fatty acids and vitamin E

Rosemary Leaf Oil which is known to stimulate circulation and has been used to treat many different skin conditions

Skin Food is free of chemical ingredients and synthetic fragrances, which I love- no fake stuff in this baby! It has a very natural, juniper scent to it.  I like the way it smells, it sort of reminds me of a gin martini…I don’t know if thats a good thing but I find it pleasant!
It has never caused me to break out anywhere…but of course, like with any product, try it out a little bit at a time to see if it works the same way for you!

Buy Weleda Skin Food here or at a Whole Foods Market near you.

XO Katrina
