Holiday snack alert! This nut mix is literally so good and so perfect- I’m craving them right now just thinking about it
This recipe is so perfect for a holiday party- I always make it when we have people over this time of year (and to be honest, all times of year haha)…and I always make sure to make extra so that we have leftovers. For me! And some for Ben too…but mostly for me.
I love seasoned nuts as a party snack, and these are really just the perfect balance of sweet, salty, savory and spicy. ALL the satisfying flavors all in one.
People sseriously RAVE about these when I make them and I have had to forward the recipe to friends way too many times to count…SO, I thought I would finally share it with everyone…once and for all!
Oh, and they are also SUPER easy to make! Just a quick mix of the ingredients, a quick roast and then let them cool. Simple.
OH! They make your kitchen smell like heaven too…which is always a good thing, especially this time of year.
I will often package them up, put them in mason jars and bring them over to a party as a host gift!
But remember, always make enough to have some leftover. Believe me, you’re going to want them.
Aside from just straight up snacking on them, I like to sprinkle them on top of my greek yogurt, add them to a fruit or smoothie bowl, or toss them into a spinach salad- YUM!
As for which nuts to use, I like a combo if almonds, cashews, pecans and walnuts the best. But you could of course omit any of those or add another you like.
Sweet and Spicy Nut Mix
1 cup raw cashews
1 cup raw almonds
1/2 cup raw pecans
1/2 cup raw walnuts
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (or more if you like it spicy!)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tablespoon melted butter (I used vegan earth balance) or melted ghee
1/4 cup maple syrup/agave blend (they sell this at Trader Joes) or you can make your own blend
Heat oven to 375, and line a baking sheet with tin foil- spray with cooking spray.
Combine all nuts with dry ingredients in a large bowl. Then drizzle in the butter and syrup- stir well to coat. (Taste and adjust flavors if need be!)
Bake in a single layer for 10 minutes, removed and stir them around to rearrange and re-coat, then roast for another 5-6 minutes or until they are sticky and roasted. Cool well (about 20 mins) before serving. Store in a sealed container or mason jar in the fridge.
