That Banana Cinnamon Protein Shake I posted about on my Instagram yesterday has arrived you guys….
I have to be honest here, I sortaaaa stole the recipe idea from the Barry’s Bootcamp Fuel Bar Menu.
A couple weeks ago, I ordered their version of this shake post class it was one of the best shakes I’ve ever tasted. Seriously….and I have tried a lot of shakes.
I figured out with some trial and error that the secret to this very simple recipe is super ripe bananas. Like, so ripe that you’re starting to get worried about what to do with them. Brown speckles galore, even let them turn a little brown…then that’s when they are perfect and ready for this smoothie. The ripe banana makes this smoothie SO sweet and delicious, without added sugar or sweetener. The heavy-handed cinnamon added compliments the sweetness perfectly.
I am a huge fan of cinnamon, especially pre or post workout because it helps keep your blood sugar levels in check, so you won’t get that crazy sugar spike….AND it is an anti-inflammatory spice which is great to have post workout.
I have a protein shake almost every single day…and this one has become my go to because it is easy, delicious and only 210 calories (my protein powder is 120 calories a scoop).
Cinnamon Banana Protein Smoothie
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (this is the one I use)
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 super ripe banana, frozen. (you can also use fresh, but frozen makes its slushier)
about a cup of ice (this makes it feel more like an ice cream shake)
Put all your ingredients in a high powdered blender and blend until it’s the consistency of a perfect milk shake. If your blender doesn’t do too good with ice, add that in last and add a little bit at a time until completely blended, smooth and creamy. Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon to be fancy, and enjoy!
