If you’ve read any of my other posts about skincare… you know one thing for sure: I take my skin care very seriously. Like very, very seriously. Almost as seriously as my teeth-brushing routine…which I’ll save for another day, another post.
…well, there is something new in my life that is changing my skin for the better…
I want to keep my face looking as good as possible for as long as possible and I also want to combat aging before it truly begins as naturally as possible.
Gone are the days when I fell asleep with makeup on…we’ve all been there, but we really don’t need to go back there right?!
Clean, fresh skin is the base for a beautiful glowing complexion….and I make sure to remove my makeup as soon as my “day” is over. When I’m just hanging at home, doing nothing, I like my skin to be clean and moisturized…not full of makeup…and I think it really helps to keep my skin healthy and fresh. I let it “breathe”.
Using a great cleanser is key- I use cream cleansers or oil cleansers. BUT one thing that pretty much reigns true across the board (as far as cleansers are concerned) is that nothing really gets all the makeup, debris and buildup off your face with just one wash.
So to fix that, you could wash twice or three times, but that isn’t really the best for your skin and it’s a waste of product in my opinion.
I recently discovered my love for Micellar Water when a friend raved about it to me. I’ve been using it as a last step when removing my makeup and after cleansing. I wet a cotton swab with the water and swipe it all over my face…and WOW! I am sort of shocked at how much leftover “gunk” is on my face after cleansing that this product removes with ease.
What is it exactly?
Micellar Water is made up of micelles (tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules) suspended in soft water, which is delicate on the skin. It looks and seems like water, but the micelles are attracted to dirt and oil, so it is able to cleanse and remove impurities without drying your skin.
I find that on its own, it doesn’t remove all of my makeup…but it is perfect for after cleansing because it pulls out all the remaining dirt and oil from my pores that my cleanser missed. I also notice it makes my skin feel so soft- probably because of the oil molecules!
Many makeup artists also use a sweep of Micellar Water across the skin before applying makeup- to make sure skin is clean, hydrated and prepped properly.
AND the best part of all of this is: its cheap! Taking good care of your skin doesn’t need to cost a fortune.
