It’s no secret you guys- I love smoothies. I love protein shakes…and I want them to taste like dessert. Like delicious, decadent dessert shakes that shouldn’t be healthy, but they are….because I made them healthy.
I drink a protein smoothie almost every single day for breakfast, either before my workout or after. If I drink it after my workout, I usually make my pre-workout breakfast small and simple…like a banana or an apple and some almonds.
ANYWAY…back to the delicious dessert smoothie recipe for today!
I was inspired to make this at home when I ordered something similar at the Fuel Bar in Barry’s Bootcamp Hollywood. It was SOO good, that I just had to make it at home…and of course I made it my way…light and filled with dairy-free, gluten-free, high protein powder.
It truly tastes like dessert, like most of my protein smoothies, but this one is a little extra special I think. Filled with antioxidant-rich blueberries, potassium packed banana, and of course TONS of protein. And it is low calorie enough to have for a post workout boost and filling enough to have for breakfast.
The secret ingredient is Better N Peanut Butter- a lower fat, lower calorie peanut butter that I am basically obsessed with. I buy it at Trader Joes (I also use it in my energy balls).
Blueberry Cobbler Protein Smoothie
2/3 cup of frozen blueberries
1/2 frozen banana
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I used Vega)
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tablespoon Better N Peanut Butter
4-5 ice cubes
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and all ice is crushed! Enjoy!
